Frequently Asked Questions In the fall of 1999, Founding Sister Rainey Boateng found herself in the middle of Greek Rush at the University of Utah. Feeling that she did not really belong in any one of the organizations that were offered and having spent many years learning and teaching about diversity, she decided to seek and possibly create something that would embrace her for who she is.

While Rainey was participating in her involvement of diversity she learned about Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. from Founding Epsilon Sister, Mandy Richmond. Rainey was excited to learn about Theta Nu Xi and began to find more information on how to bring it to the University of Utah.

In the fall of 2000, Rainey began the school year recruiting interest. Founding sisters Yazmin Pulido and Amanda Tomchak had been friends with Rainey from the beginning of their college career. There was no hesitation from either Yazmin or Amanda to support Rainey in her dream of bringing a diverse group of women together into what they would soon find out to the most amazing sisterhood. Founding sister Cassy Huidobro gained interest when she saw an article in the school paper and contacted Rainey.

On February 24, 2001 the Iota Colony of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was founded. Cassy, being the ambitious woman that she is, led the founders in obtaining their chapter charter and on May 15, 2001 the Iota Colony became the Iota Chapter of Theta Nu Xi at the University of Utah.
